Jersey Shore Best Beach Survey is Back for 2014...Vote Now!

Island Beach State Park

Where's your favorite beach in NJ? Long Beach Island...Seaside Heights....Island Beach State Park? After a 1 year hiatus caused by Super-Storm Sandy, the New Jersey Top Ten Beaches Survey is back on for 2014.

The New Jersey’s Top Ten Beaches Survey was introduced in 2008 to inspire pride in and stewardship of New Jersey’s beaches while promoting a little healthy competition between New Jersey’s favorite beach towns.

The partnership project, a collaboration between the New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium and the Richard Stockton College Coastal Research Center (CRC) has become a highlight of the state’s pre-summer festivities.

The New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium is an affiliation of colleges, universities and other groups dedicated to advancing knowledge and stewardship of New Jersey’s marine and coastal environment. It promotes responsible use of New Jersey’s coastal and marine environment through research, education and outreach.

The Stockton College Coastal Research Center  originated in 1981 to assist local municipalities with coastal environmental issues related to recurring storm damage and shoreline retreat.

Since then the CRC has been working on shoreline monitoring and assessment programs with the State of New Jersey and several municipalities in New Jersey.   The CRC has also been a resource for geotechnical data working on numerous projects with Federal, State and municipal governments.

For roughly two months each year Jersey Shore enthusiasts are invited to cast a vote for their favorite beach communities...here: http://www.njtoptenbeaches.org/we-are-back

The results of the survey are announced each year just before Memorial Day weekend at the NJSGC’s State of the Shore Media Event, a premier gathering of coastal experts, state officials, and members of the news media, to kick off the Jersey Shore summer.
